Originating from the Dowayo/ Namji ethnic group in North West Cameroon, Namji dolls are made from dark wood and are covered in lighter off-white shells; some ethnic groups believe that these dolls provide good fortune in fertility for women who are looking to conceive. They are one of the most commonly used decorative pieces in North West Cameroon, and are considered a must-have accessory.
